Division II rewind

Following is a summary of Division II news from the week of May 4-8:

•         Division II and CBS College Sports announced a six-game live-television broadcast package for the 2009 football season, the first two games of which feature teams in last year’s championship game.

•         A number of new members have been appointed to Division II governance groups, including Georgia College President Dorothy Leland (to the Presidents Council) and Northwest Missouri State Athletics Director Bob Boerigter (to the Management Council). New appointments also were approved for other Division II governance committees and sport committees.

•         A pilot program designed to prevent alcohol and other drug-related harm among student-athletes is off to a promising start, according to data collected from the first phase of the project.

•         Division II member institutions must provide their student-body graduation-rates data for the entering freshman cohort of 2002, as well as student-body enrollment for fall 2008, by June 1.
