Following is a summary of Division II news for the week of February 2-6.

Aligning with a change in philosophy to expect more from institutions planning to apply for Division II membership, the Division II Membership Committee has established minimum expectations for prospective applicants to meet. The purpose of the new guidelines is to expedite applicants’ progression through the candidacy and provisional periods once they are accepted into the process.

The February 7 women’s basketball game between Seattle Pacific and Northwest Nazarene will feature coaches from both sides wearing wireless microphones. The technology has been used before in Division I regular-season games, but Division II is trying it on for size in a couple of upcoming CBS College Sports Network broadcasts.

Lincoln (Missouri) has been accepted as a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, beginning in 2010.

The Division II Athletics Directors Association has named Rudy Carvajal of Cal State Bakersfield and former Rollins AD Phil Roach as recipients of the organization’s lifetime achievement award.

The Peach Belt Conference is offering its fans free access to games online.
