Following is a summary of Division I news from the week of March 30-April 3.

•         Auburn won its eighth men’s swimming and diving title, an inspirational victory that gave head coach Richard Quick a record 13th national championship and first in men’s swimming. Quick was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in December 2008.

•         Ohio State signed a 10-year, $110 million media-rights deal with IMG College and RadiOhio. The new deal, believed to be the largest of its kind, is effective July 1 and could bring an additional $18 million to the university.

•         As the Men’s and Women’s Final Fours approach, some Division I leaders are talking about the impact of the economic crisis on collegiate athletics and the role that additional commercial endeavors could play in helping schools stay afloat during the downturn.
