Division I RewindThe following is a summary of Division I news from the week of February 2-6.
• Niagara will add women’s golf beginning with the 2009-10 academic year. Robert O’Malley will lead the Purple Eagles as they compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
• The Academic Cabinet urged the membership to commit to data-driven policy development through a variety of decisions at its February 2-3 meeting in Indianapolis, including the endorsement of two legislative proposals that would close gaps in data about early certification student-athletes and two-year transfers.
• Monday’s Tennessee-Oklahoma women’s basketball matchup garnered a 1.0 rating, making it the highest-rated women’s “Big Monday” telecast in history.
• Rick Chryst announced he will leave the Mid-American Conference when his contract expires June 30. He’s been with the conference since 1999.
