Registration for Regional Rules opens March 3 for the 2014 NCAA Regional Rules Seminars. This year's seminars, the Association's primary annual gatherings for campus personnel involved in rules compliance, will be held May 20-23 in Atlanta and June 3-6 in San Diego.
Association-wide sessions will be held on the opening day at each location, with all three divisions holding sessions the following day.
Sessions are being categorized to assist attendees based on their experience and expertise, including:
- Fundamental Introduction: Sessions are entry-level focused. These sessions include a basic overview of legislation, basic case studies, straightforward application of legislation and associated interpretations, and an introduction to navigating the academic and membership affairs process;
- Advanced Application: Sessions are focused on attendees with an advanced understanding of regulatory processes. These sessions include a narrow review of specific legislation and associated interpretations (e.g. existence of uncertainty, confusion and high volume of questions and/or misapplication), complex case studies, best practices for interpreting and applying the legislation and associated interpretations and a specific review of navigating the academic and membership affairs processes;
- National Office Dialogue: Sessions are focused on attendees with either an entry- or advanced understanding of regulatory processes. These sessions include an informative update on issues of national level significance, items under consideration or new requirements, and seek to solicit attendee feedback;
- Institutional Best Practice Dialogue: Sessions are focused on attendees with an advanced understanding of regulatory processes. These sessions include a facilitated panel discussion with NCAA staff and membership professionals to discuss complex legislative, monitoring and/or educational issues and seek to engage those in attendance.
