Georgetown promoted Kenya Kirkland from assistant operations manager to assistant women’s basketball coach. Kirkland, who played for the program from 2006-10, will work primarily with the guards and defense while recruiting. She is also currently working toward a master’s degree in social and public policy.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Buffalo appointed Danny White as its new director of athletics. White was most recently Ole Miss’ senior associate athletics director … Scott Leykam is Portland’s new athletics director. Leykam worked at the West Coast Conference since 2008, serving as senior associate commissioner for external relations … Saint Anselm hired Kelly Higgins as its director of athletics. Higgins was previously Fort Lewis’ athletics director since 2008 … Texas A&M athletics director Bill Byrne announced his retirement. Byrne held the role the past 10 years and has been an athletics director for 29 years overall. He will assume the role of special advisor to the president.

Assistant athletics directors – Central Florida selected Andy Seeley as its assistant athletics director for communications. Seeley was Minnesota’s associate director of athletics communications for the past four years.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Illinois State chose Dan Muller to lead its men’s basketball program as head coach. Muller, who played for the Redbirds, has been on the staff at Vanderbilt since 2000 … McMurry head men’s basketball coach J.D. Isler stepped down after one season at the helm.

Women’s basketball – Stefano Trompeo, New York University’s head women’s basketball coach, resigned. Trompeo spent four seasons as head coach and another five as an assistant.

Men’s basketball assistants – Montana hired Kerry Rupp as an assistant men’s basketball coach. Rupp was Hawaii’s director of operations last season and the head coach at Louisiana Tech from 2007-11.

Women’s basketball assistants – Mary Hardin-Baylor added Austin Klumpe to its women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse – Eastern removed the interim tag from Kevin Wallace, making him head men’s lacrosse coach. He had held the interim role since September.

Men’s and women’s soccer – North Central tabbed Bonnie Young as its new head women’s soccer coach.

Men’s and women’s soccer assistants – Holy Cross named Chris Gbandi assistant men’s soccer coach. Gbandi spent last season as Connecticut’s assistant director of soccer operations.

Softball – La Salle head softball coach Brianne Brown resigned. Brown led the squad for the past four seasons.

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving – Tracy Ljone resigned from her role as New Mexico’s head women’s swimming coach. Ljone spent seven seasons in the position … New York University selected Trevor Miele as its head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach. Miele spent the last six years leading the men’s and women’s programs at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Barton named Jeff Lennox head men’s and women’s volleyball coach. Lennox comes from Elmira, where he was the head men’s and assistant women’s coach … Dan Sempkowski is Georgian Court’s new head women’s volleyball coach. Sempkowski was previously an assistant at his alma mater, Ramapo.

Men’s and women’s volleyball assistants – Loyola Chicago hired Dan Buehring as an assistant women’s volleyball coach. Buehring spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Illinois-Chicago.

Staff

Development – Kennesaw State named Erin Kerr director of athletics development. Kerr spent two years working at her alma mater, Wake Forest, as assistant director of athletics development.

Deaths

New York City basketball legend Andrew “Fuzzy” Levane died at the age of 92. Levane played collegiately at St. John’s (New York).
