Estevan Arbaiza

Howard Payne hired Estevan Arbaiza as its head men’s soccer coach. Arbaiza was a graduate assistant at Hardin-Simmons last season and has also coached at the club level. Arbaiza also played collegiately at Hardin Simmons, graduating in 2010.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – St. Cloud State named Heather Weems athletics director. Weems was Drake’s associate athletics director/senior woman administrator … Southern tabbed William Broussard as its new director of athletics. Broussard most recently served as AD at Centenary (Louisiana).

Coaches

Men’s basketball – College of Charleston head men’s basketball coach Bobby Cremins announced his retirement. Cremins spent six seasons with the Cougars and has also coached at Point Park, Appalachian State and Georgia Tech … Rick Stansbury retired from his role as Mississippi State’s head men’s basketball coach. Stansbury was head coach for 14 years and spent 22 years overall with the institution … UAB will not retain head men’s basketball coach Mike Davis after six years at the helm.

Women’s basketball – Boston College head women’s basketball coach Sylvia Crawley resigned after four seasons with the program. Assistant coach Tim Eatman will serve as interim head coach … Kennesaw State head women’s basketball coach Colby Tilley announced his retirement. Tilley coached the Owls for 17 years and collegiately for 35 years overall … Mary Hardin-Baylor chose Lisa Curliss-Taylor to lead its women’s basketball program as head coach. Curliss-Taylor spent the last five years as Missouri-St. Louis’ head coach … Gail Goestenkors resigned as Texas’ head women’s basketball coach. Goestenkors led the program for five seasons.

Women’s basketball assistants – Missouri Southern named Jim Graffam a volunteer assistant coach.

Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field – Longtime North Carolina head men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach Dennis Craddock will retire at the conclusion of the 2012 season. Craddock led both programs for 27 years.

Football assistants – Holy Cross named Andy Rondeau defensive coordinator. Rondeau spent the last five years as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Old Dominion … Maine added Jeff Ambrosie and Kyle Archer to its football coaching staff. Ambrosie will coach the offensive line while Archer handles the special teams and wide receivers … Missouri Southern volunteer assistant Chass Williams has left the program to take a full-time position at Fort Scott Community College … San Jose State selected Fred Guidici and Brian Lindgren as additions to its football staff.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Macalester hired Gregg Olson as its head men’s soccer coach. Olson was formerly an assistant at Stanford for four seasons … Mary Hardin-Baylor named Barry Elkins head women’s soccer coach. Elkins, a four-year letter-winner for the Cru men’s program, previously coached at the high school level.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Adriano de Souza is Louisiana Tech’s new head women’s volleyball coach. The longtime Division I assistant replaces Matt Sonnichsen, who resigned following the 2011 campaign.

Men’s and women’s volleyball assistants – Randolph-Macon added Jessica Gregory to its women’s volleyball staff as assistant coach.

Conferences

The Southeastern Conference promoted Greg Sankey to executive associate commissioner and chief operating officer. Sankey previously served as associate commissioner since 2002.
