J.J. O’Connell

Oswego State chose J.J. O’Connell to lead its women’s volleyball program as head coach. O’Connell spent the last 10 years as the head coach at Stevens Institute of Technology. Before that, O’Connell served in various assistant roles at SUNY Cortland, Ferris State and College at Brockport.

Other transactions

Associate athletics directors – Cal State Bakersfield named Kenneth “Ziggy” Siegfried senior associate athletics director for development and major gifts. For the past two-plus years, Siegfried was the director of development at Memphis’ Fogelman College of Business & Economics.

Women’s basketball – Louisiana-Lafayette head women’s basketball coach Errol Rogers resigned. Rogers spent five seasons coaching the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Football assistants – Nebraska hired Terry Joseph as its new secondary coach. Joseph spent the last two seasons at Tennessee as defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator.

Conferences

The Big East Conference announced the addition of Temple. The Owls will begin football competition in 2012, with all other sports following in 2013-14 … College at Brockport will join the Empire 8 in football starting in 2014.
