Former Mount Union wrestling standout Bill Schindel has been hired as the school’s head coach. He will serve as the eighth wrestling coach in school history, taking over for Mark Hawald, who recently resigned. Schindel graduated from Mount Union in 2011 and was a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference champion as a student-athlete.

Other transactions

Assistant athletics directors – Upper Iowahired Brandi Rideout as the assistant AD for student-athlete service and designated her as the athletics department’s senior woman administrator. Rideout spent the last five years as the director for student-athlete services at Maine … Erin Moran joined the Miami (Florida) administrative staff as the assistant compliance director for student services. She is replacing Karen Kelly, who took a position as the director of compliance at Tennessee.

Coaches

Baseball –Northwestern State hired Lane Burroughs as head coach. He was an assistant at Mississippi State under former Northwestern State head coach John Cohen for the past four seasons. He will replace J.P. Davis, who resigned earlier this month.

Women’s basketball – Nebraska head coach Connie Yori earned a two-year contract extension after leading the Huskers to their fourth NCAA tournament appearance in six years. She is in her 11th season with the program.

Women’s basketball assistants Liz Honneger was named the director of basketball operations at Indiana. Honneger played for Hoosiers’ head coach Curt Miller during his tenure at Bowling Green.

Men’s and women’s tennis Erica Perkins Jasper, who was the head coach at Michigan State and Georgia Southern, is the new head women’s tennis coach at New Mexico. She worked in player development for the USTA for the past four years.

Major gifts

Lynn received a $1.2 million donation from Bobby Campbell of Boca Raton, Fla. to aid in the construction of their new soccer stadium, which will be named after Campbell. The Fighting Knights men’s and women’s soccer programs have recorded a total of seven Division II national championships. The construction of the stadium will also allow the university to add a lacrosse team.
