John Campbell

Francis Marion chose John Campbell to lead its men’s soccer program as head coach. Campbell spent the previous seven seasons coaching Dominican (New York). He has also been a men’s assistant at Bucknell and Bloomsburg and a women’s assistant at Binghamton.

Other transactions

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Miami (Florida) and Jim Larranaga agreed to a three-year contract extension that runs through the 2019 season. Larranaga is currently in his first season coaching the Hurricanes.

Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field assistants – Florida Tech added Nick Dodson to its track and field staff as an assistant coach.

Football – Greg Schiano resigned from his role as Rutgers head football coach to become the new head coach of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Schiano spent 11 seasons at the helm of the Scarlet Knights. Kyle Flood takes over the squad on an interim basis … Texas signed head football coach Mack Brown to a four-year contract extension, keeping him with the Longhorns through 2020. Brown has coached the Longhorns for 14 seasons.

Football assistants – Justin Stepp is Appalachian State’s new running backs coach. Stepp spent the last three years at Clemson, most recently as a graduate assistant coach.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse assistants – Duke added Caline McHenry Olmsted to its women’s lacrosse coaching staff as a volunteer assistant … St. Andrews Presbyterian hired Rick Cremen as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach. Cremen has previously coached for various all-star lacrosse programs.

Men’s and women’s water polo – Washington and Jefferson hired Jeremiah O’Neill as its head men’s and women’s water polo coach. O’Neill has previously coached at Bucknell and Salem International and spent time as a NCAA water polo official.

Staff

Strength and conditioning – Texas A&M-Commerce tabbed Lance Farmer as its new strength and conditioning coach. Farmer most recently spent more than three years at Limestone and two at Appalachian State as a graduate assistant.

Conferences

The Eastern College Athletic Conference named Mary Bradbury director of officiating. Bradbury is a 30-year veteran official in basketball, softball and volleyball.

NCAA committee vacancies

The NCAA is soliciting nominations for the following committee vacancies. The deadline for submitting nomination materials is February 24, 2012. Nominations must be submitted online (access code: committee3 – password: 2006).

Division III Membership Committee – One March 2012 vacancy. The appointee will replace Stefanie Baker-Watson, formerly of North Central, who resigned from the committee. The appointee must be a female.

Division III Men’s Volleyball Committee – One immediate vacancy. The appointee will replace Louis McCleary, formerly of Elms. The appointee must be an administrator from the East region.
