Jesse Williams

Ohio added Jesse Williams to its football coaching staff as defensive line coach. Williams was formerly the defensive line coach at New Mexico State for three seasons and has 20 years of college coaching experience overall. He replaces Pete Germano, who was named an assistant coach at Fresno State.

Other transactions

Associate athletics directors – Loyola Maryland promoted Bill Wnek to associate athletic director. Wnek has worked with the Greyhounds as assistant athletic director for compliance since 2004 and was an assistant soccer coach before that.

Coaches

Football – Cincinnati extended the contract of head football coach Butch Jones through the 2017 season. Jones recently completed his second season leading the squad.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Florida Tech named Nathan Baker head women’s volleyball coach. Baker comes from VCU, where he was an assistant for the past three years.

Conferences

Navy will join the Big East Conference was a football-only member beginning with the 2015 season. Navy has never been a member of a conference for football.

Deaths

Former Denison head men’s lacrosse coach Ferris “Tommy” Thomsen Jr. passed away at the age of 80. Thomsen led the Big Red program for 25 years, from 1966-1990.
