Jeff Shinn

Mary Hardin-Baylor promoted Jeff Shinn to offensive coordinator in football. He replaces Matt Robinson, who resigned to pursue other career opportunities. Shinn will enter his seventh season as a full-time assistant with the Crusaders. He also spent four years as Mary Hardin-Baylor’s starting fullback.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Palm Beach Atlantic appointed Carolyn Stone director of athletics. Stone succeeds Bob White, who will focus on his position as women’s volleyball coach.

Coaches

Baseball – Hofstra head baseball coach Patrick Anderson resigned after three seasons at the helm. Assistant John Russo has been named the interim head coach.

Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field assistants – Texas-Pan American added Jiovanna Martinez as a graduate assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field programs.

Football – Washington and Lee promoted Scott Abell to head football coach. Abell was previously the program’s assistant head coach and offensive coordinator.

Football assistants – Alabama hired Doug Nussmeier as offensive coordinator and Lance Thompson as linebackers coach. Nussmeier was Washington’s offensive coordinator the last three seasons while Thompson returns to the Crimson Tide after spending the last three seasons at Tennessee … Illinois named Tim Banks defensive coordinator. Banks was co-defensive coordinator at Cincinnati the last two years … Tarleton State elevated Justin Carrigan from receivers coach to offensive coordinator. Carrigan will also coach the quarterbacks … Missouri Southern named Bob Howell offensive coordinator and Jay Thomas defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Additionally, Kevin Carey is the offensive line coach, Dustin Gisclair will coach the linebackers, Rashad Watson is the defensive backs coach and Jake Landoll will oversee the defensive line … Eric Kiesau was hired by Washington as its offensive coordinator. Kiesau was passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at California last season.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse – Olivet chose Michael O’Neill as its first head men’s lacrosse coach. Young Harris named Kirk Rogers director of lacrosse. Both the men’s and women’s programs will begin play in 2013. The Mountain Lions are in year one of the Division II membership process.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse assistants – High Point added Staci Passafiume to its women’s lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant. Passafiume completed her playing career at C.W. Post in 2010.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Felician named Roger Stephens head men’s soccer coach.

Men’s and women’s soccer assistants – Olivet appointed Lauren Sinacola as an assistant women’s soccer coach. She spent the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Michigan State … Neel Bhattacharjee is Syracuse’s new assistant women’s soccer coach. He spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Boston College.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Nebraska Wesleyan hired Rayna Cain as its head women’s volleyball coach. Cain takes over for Gina Chambers, who resigned her position after eight seasons to spend more time with her family … Santa Clara chose Matt Lyles as an assistant women’s volleyball coach. Lyles previously spent time with the Broncos from 2003-2009.
