LSU added Corey Raymond to its football coaching staff as defensive backs coach. Raymond spent 2011 on Nebraska’s coaching staff and has served previous stints at Utah State and with the Tigers. Raymond replaces Ron Cooper, who left to take a position in the NFL.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Shenandoah Director of Athletics Wayne Edwards announced his retirement, effective May 31. Edwards has served in the role for two and a half years.

Coaches

Football assistants – Tulsa named Darnell Walker, Sr. cornerbacks coach. He spent the last three years with similar duties at Southwest Baptist.

Men’s and women’s soccer – St. Norbert chose Derek Rhodes to lead its men’s soccer program as head coach. Rhodes was most recently a head coach at the high school level and coached as an assistant with the Green Knights under his father from 2004-07.

Men’s and women’s tennis – South Carolina head men’s tennis coach Arlo Elkins is stepping aside from his day-to-day duties. Associate head coach Katarina Petrovic takes over in an interim role.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Elon hired Jennifer Fry as an assistant women’s volleyball coach. Fry was head coach at Norfolk State from 2007-10 and was a volunteer assistant at Illinois last season.

Conferences

The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference announced the addition of Emerson as its 11th member. The institution will join the conference in the 2013-14 academic year … Patrick Damore is retiring from his role as commissioner of the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Damore has held the position since 1979.
