Rebecca Marsh

Florida Southern named Rebecca Marsh head men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach. Marsh served as the interim head women’s coach last season. The interim men’s head coach from last year, Ben Martucci, will serve as Marsh’s assistant.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Cal State Stanislaus appointed Michael Matoso as its new athletics director. Matoso comes from San Diego State, where he was the senior associate director of athletics … Keshia Campbell stepped down as Hampton’s director of athletics. Campbell took over the role originally in 2011 … Marshall and athletics director Mike Hamrick agreed to a contract extension through June 2017. Hamrick has been with Marshall since 2009.

Associate athletics directors – Massachusetts-Dartmouth appointed Amanda Van Voorhis associate director of athletics and designated her senior woman administrator. Van Voorhis will retain her current duties as head women’s basketball coach, a position she has held since 2008.

Assistant athletics directors – Trinity (Connecticut) chose JoAnn Acquarulo as its assistant athletics director.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Duquesne named Jim Ferry head men’s basketball coach. Ferry comes from Long Island, where Jack Perri was promoted to the vacant position from associate head coach … Eastern Illinois hired Jay Spoonhour as its head men’s basketball coach. Spoonhour comes from Moberly Area Community College and also has over 10 years as a Division I assistant … Florida International relieved Isiah Thomas of his duties as head men’s basketball coach … Miami (Ohio) tabbed John Cooper as its head men’s basketball coach. Cooper comes from Tennessee State, where he was head coach for the last three seasons … Olivet tabbed Chris Coles as its new head men’s basketball coach. Coles was an assistant at Saginaw Valley State the last five years … Southern Arkansas hired Andy Sharpe as its new head men’s basketball coach … Trent Johnson is TCU’s new head men’s basketball coach. Johnson comes from LSU, where he led the Tigers for four seasons … Wisconsin-Eau Claire head men’s basketball coach Kyle Green stepped down after one season.

Men’s basketball assistants – Mississippi State hired former Evansville assistant Chris Hollender as assistant men’s basketball coach. Additionally, Adam Gordon is the program’s new director of operations.

Women’s basketball – Augustana (Illinois) elevated Mark Beinborn from assistant to head women’s basketball coach … Raegan Pebley is Fresno State’s new head women’s basketball coach. Pebley had been at Utah State since 2003 … George Washington named Jonathan Tsipis head women’s basketball coach. Tsipis spent the last nine seasons at Notre Dame, most recently as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator … Providence chose Susan Robinson Fruchtl to lead its women’s basketball program as head coach. Robinson Fruchtl comes from Saint Francis (Pennsylvania), where she spent five seasons as head coach … Trinity (Texas) head women’s basketball coach Amie Bradley announced her resignation. Bradley spent seven seasons with the Tigers.

Women’s basketball assistants – College of Charleston hired Bob Clark as its associate head women’s basketball coach. Clark will enter his 36th season overall in coaching.

Field hockey – Oberlin named Anna Baeth head field hockey coach. Baeth spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Mount Holyoke.

Football – Arkansas relieved head football coach Bobby Petrino of his duties.

Football assistants – Tennessee State added Russ Ehrenfeld and Mikhal Kornegay to its football staff as offensive line coach and cornerbacks coach, respectively … Will Kofe, Brian Bellotti and Mike Cody were added to UC Davis’ coaching staff. Kofe will be the defensive line coach, Bellotti a defensive assistant and Cody an offensive assistant.

Men’s and women’s golf – Martha Nause is stepping down from her role as head men’s and women’s golf coach at Macalester. She held the role for 12 years.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Kalamazoo College named Lumumba Shabazz head men’s soccer coach. Shabazz coached the past six seasons at the high school level … WPI hired Corey Holton as the head women’s soccer coach. Holton will also serve as the assistant sport information director.

Men’s and women’s soccer assistants -- Texas Women’s University chose Babak Abouzar as an assistant women’s soccer coach.

Softball – Juniata head softball coach John Houck announced his resignation after more than 10 seasons at the helm. Assistant coach Ed Habbershon will serve as interim coach the remainder of the season.

Wrestling – North Carolina State named Pat Popolizio head wrestling coach. Popolizio spent six seasons leading Binghamton’s program previously.

Sport sponsorship

San Jose State added women’s outdoor track. The squad will begin competition in the 2013-14 season.

Milestones

Shepherd head baseball coach Wayne Riser reached the 500-career victory mark. His career dates back to 1991.
