Paul Thomas

North Park chose Paul Thomas to lead its women’s soccer program as head coach. Thomas’ previous head coaching experience is at the club level and for NAIA institution Madonna. He has also been an assistant at Saginaw Valley State. Thomas replaces Troy Edwards, who accepted the same position at Aurora.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Brown appointed Jack Hayes as its director of athletics. Hayes comes from Hofstra, where he was AD since 2004. Hofstra made executive associate athletic director Danny McCabe interim athletics director. McCabe originally joined the institution in 2005 … Earlham tabbed Mike Bergum as its new athletics director. Bergum was an AD at the high school level for the last 16 years.

Coaches

Men’s basketball – Nyack selected Jason Crafton as its head men’s basketball coach. Crafton, a Nyack alum, was an assistant for seven years at Navy, the last two as associate head coach

Men’s basketball assistants – Kansas State hired Chris Lowery as an assistant coach. Lowery formerly was Southern Illinois’ head coach for eight seasons … VCU added Jeremy Ballard to its men’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant. Ballard spent the last five seasons on the staff at Tulsa.

Women’s basketball – Abilene Christian named Julie Goodenough head women’s basketball coach … Drexel and head women’s basketball coach Denise Dillon agreed to a multi-year contract extension. Dillon recently completed her ninth season at the helm … Eastern Michigan head women’s basketball coach AnnMarie Gilbert resigned. Gilbert held the position since 2007 … Charity Elliott is Loyola Marymount’s new head women’s basketball coach. Elliott was most recently UC San Diego’s head coach for five seasons … Northwestern State hired Brooke and Scott Stoehr as co-head women’s basketball coaches. Brooke was most recently an assistant at Texas Tech, while Scott comes from the high school ranks … Wagner named Lisa Cermignano head women’s basketball coach. Cermignano has spent time at Illinois, Vanderbilt, George Washington, Monmouth and Maryland in her 14-year career as an assistant.
