Jacqueline McDevitt

Oberlin hired Jacqueline McDevitt as its head women’s lacrosse coach. McDevitt comes from Occidental, where she spent the past two seasons as the Tigers’ lead assistant. Prior to that, McDevitt was an assistant at Union (New York) and Marist.

Women’s rowing assistants – Temple named Rebecca Smith assistant women’s rowing coach. Smith had been an assistant at Bucknell the previous two years.

Staff

Sports information – KatieJo Kuhens returns to her alma mater, Wartburg, as sports information director.

Conferences

The Big 12 Conference announced that West Virginia will join the league beginning with the 2012-13 athletics season.

Miscellaneous

Hampden-Sydney added men’s swimming as a varsity sport. The squad will begin competition this season.

Deaths

Former Cal State Fullerton head football coach Gene Murphy died at the age of 72. Murphy coached the Titans from 1980 through 1992.
