Albany (New York) added former Great Danes Liam Gleason and Eric Wolf to its men’s lacrosse coaching staff as associate head coach and assistant coach, respectively. Gleason spent one year as head coach of Saint Rose. Wolf spent the last three years as an assistant at Siena.

Other transactions

Assistant athletics directors – John Kietzmann is Metro State’s new assistant athletics director in charge of marketing and media relations. Kietzmann will replace Ron Christian, who resigned in July to accept a teaching position at Nebraska-Kearney … Mississippi State promoted Joe Galbraith to assistant director of athletics for media relations. Galbraith, a Mississippi State alum, has been with the Bulldogs since 2005. Additionally, Chad Thomas was elevated to assistant director of athletics for marketing. Thomas started in Starkville in 2004.

Conferences

Notre Dame is leaving the Central Collegiate Hockey Association for the Hockey East Association. The Fighting Irish will be the 11th member school of the conference.

Milestones

Kalamazoo head women’s volleyball coach Jeanne Hess recorded her 500th career victory on Tuesday with a victory over Albion. Hess began coaching at Kalamazoo in 1984 and is currently in her 28th season.

Deaths

Albion’s professor emerita of physical education Charlotte Duff died on Monday. Duff began at Albion in 1956 and coached tennis, field hockey and basketball in addition to her teaching duties … Former Illinois football All-American Charles Boerio died of natural causes at 81. Boerio coached at Colorado after his playing career.
