David Joyner

Penn State chose David Joyner as its acting athletic director. Joyner is a Penn State Distinguished Alumnus and has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2000. Mark Sherburne, who was interim athletic director in the wake of Tim Curley’s resignation, returned to his duties as associate athletic director.

Baseball assistants – Hofstra named Kelly Haynes and Vincent Colasuonno assistant baseball coaches.

Football – Kenyon head football coach Ted Stanley resigned after nine seasons at the helm … New Mexico hired Bob Davie to lead its football program as head coach. Davie, Notre Dame’s head coach from 1997-2001, had been a television broadcaster since.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Stanford head men’s soccer coach Bret Simon resigned from his position. Simon had been at Stanford for the past 11 seasons.

Sport sponsorship

Bard is adding baseball to begin competition in the spring of 2013. Bard’s last varsity baseball season was in 1937. Jim Chambers, founder of the club baseball team at Bard, will be the head coach.
