Arkansas extended the contracts of the following coaches through the 2015-16  season: co-head women’s gymnastics coaches Mark and Renee Cook, head women’s golf coach Shauna Estes-Taylor, head men’s golf coach Brad McMakin, head men’s cross country and track and field coach Chris Bucknam and head women’s swimming and diving coach Jeff Poppell.

Other transactions

Associate athletics directors – Nevada appointed Mike Samuels associate athletics director for marketing. Samuels spent the last nine years working at St. Mary’s (California).

Tim Tadlock

Coaches

Baseball assistants – Texas Tech hired Tim Tadlock as its associate head baseball coach. Tadlock, a former Texas Tech player, spent the previous six years coach at Oklahoma.

Staff

Sports information – Washington U. in St. Louis named Kelcey Zutavern assistant sports information director. She replaces Vincent Novicki, who left after four years for Seton Hall.

Sports sponsorship

Sage Colleges is adding its 13th varsity athletic program, women’s cross country. The squad will begin competition in 2012.

Deaths

Longtime Pomona-Pitzer coach, physical education professor and NCAA committee member Edward Malan passed away on September 6 at 88.
