DII’s Steeb-Gronau honored with Knight Award from FARA

The Faculty Athletics Representatives Association recognized years of service by Division II Director Terri Steeb-Gronau by honoring her with the David Knight Award on Thursday night in San Diego.

The Knight Award recognizes extraordinary contribution to FARA and is awarded annually at the organization’s Fall Forum.

Steeb-Gronau has been with the NCAA national office for more than 10 years and director of Division II since October 2004. She oversees the implementation of the Division II strategic plan and supports the Division II governance structure, including working with the Division II Management and Presidents Councils. She also assists with the Division II National Championships Festivals.

She also has been closely involved with Division II’s Leadership Institutes (and advanced institutes) for faculty athletics representatives.

Steeb-Gronau previously served as the associate director of membership services/Division II governance liaison. In that role, she worked with the Division II Academic Requirements Committee, the Division II Legislation Committee and the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Continuing Eligibility.

The award honors David Knight, the distinguished FAR from North Carolina-Greensboro who died in 2003. Knight was the first chair of the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet and was influential in the early stages of Division I academic reform.
