Amanda Cuiffo

Norwich Associate Director of Athletics and head volleyball coach Amanda Cuiffo is stepping down from both positions. Cuiffo was the only coach in Cadet volleyball history, as the program began in 2006. She was also the school’s senior woman administrator and SAAC advisor.

Other transactions

Athletics directors – Marquette appointed Larry Williams vice president and director of athletics. Williams comes from Portland, where he was the director of athletics and recreation since 2004.

Coaches

Football – Florida Atlantic chose Carl Pelini to lead its football program as head coach. Pelini was the defensive coordinator at Nebraska since 2008 under his brother, Bo … Greg McMackin is retiring after a 44-year coaching career, the last four of which were spent as head coach at Hawaii. Associate head coach Rich Miano will take over in the interim … Hugh Freeze was tabbed as Ole Miss’ new head football coach. Freeze, a Mississippi native, previously spent one season as Arkansas State’s head coach … South Dakota alum Joe Glenn is the program’s new head football coach. Glenn, who played for the Coyotes from 1968-1971, was most recently the head coach at Wyoming in 2008 … Tulane hired Curtis Johnson as its new head football coach. Johnson is a New Orleans native and was the New Orleans Saints’ wide receivers coach since 2006.

Football assistants – Arizona named Calvin Magee associate head coach and offensive coordinator, Tony Gibson secondary coach and Tony Dews receivers coach. All three coaches were most recently at Pittsburgh … Assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Chuck Driesbach and recruiting coordinator/running back coach Rick LaFavers will not be retained by Rice next season. Both had been with the program since 2007.

Men’s and women’s golf – Long Beach State hired Mickey Yokoi as its men’s golf coach. Yokoi spent the last 14 years coaching at Arizona State, most recently as associate head men’s coach.

Men’s and women’s tennis assistants – Chicago named Tim Fayed assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Shaun Kupferberg resigned from his role as Jacksonville’s head volleyball coach after six seasons at the helm. Assistant coach Christina Diaz will serve as the interim coach until a replacement is found.

Sport sponsorship

Prospective NCAA Division II member institution Young Harris is adding men’s and women’s lacrosse in 2012.
