CoSIDA names Capital One Academic All-America Teams for soccer

NCAA.org

The College Sports Information Directors of America and NCAA corporate partner Capital One have announced the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams in all three divisions.

It is the first time in the 50-year history of the program that All-America teams have been named in each division. Previously, teams were separated into university (Division I) and college (Divisions II and III and NAIA) divisions. But in conjunction with sponsorship from Capital One, which became the rights holder for the All-America program in December 2010, and support from the Divisions II and III governance structures, CoSIDA decided to establish a new system beginning this year.

This year’s Division I Academic All-America of the Year award winners are senior goalkeeper Brian Holt of Creighton and senior forward Krista Lopez of Oklahoma State.

In Division II, senior forwards Mark Anderson of Barry and Ashley Botts of Grand Valley State were recognized.

Senior forwards Drew Golz of Wheaton (Illinois) and Courtney Chadburn of Castleton State were named in Division III.
