    Joseph Quinlan Jr. announced his resignation as director of athletics at Seton Hall, effective October 8. Upon Quinlan's departure after five years at the helm of the department, Duane Bailey, deputy athletics director, and Ginger Fulton, senior associate athletic director, will take over for the remainder of the academic year.

    Other transactions

    Director of athletics – Kelly Mehrtens resigned as athletics director at North Carolina-Wilmington, effective immediately. Mehrtens was previously an associate director of athletics at Kansas before joining UNC Wilmington in 2007.

    Associate director of athletics – Florida Southern promoted Al Green from assistant director to associate director of athletics for marketing and promotion. Green has worked at Florida Southern since 2007 and is also the head athletic trainer.

    Coaches

    Women's basketball – IUPUI head coach Shann Hart was relieved of her duties after six seasons with the program.

    Women's basketball assistants – Johnson C. Smith hired Andre' Green as an assistant coach. Green was previously the director of university relations for the Charlotte Basketball Association and a head coach at the youth level.

    Deaths

    Herbert Holden Jr., a former football and lacrosse student-athlete at Williams, died August 30 at the age of 90. Holden competed for the Ephs from 1938 to 1942. Following graduation he joined the Marines and served in World War II and later became a senior vice president in what is now known as Citicorp.
