    Northwestern State hired former assistant Luc Godin as head coach of the women's tennis program after the resignation of Patric DuBois. Godin served as a graduate assistant during the 2008-09 season and last season was the head coach of the men's tennis program at Drury. DuBois will remain with the program as a volunteer coach while he continues his duties outside of the athletics department as director of the campus wellness center.

    Other transactions

    Directors of athletics – Debra Gore-Mann, director of athletics at San Francisco, announced her resignation, effective September 17. Charles Cross, the university's vice president of business and finance, was named interim athletics director.

    Assistant directors of athletics – Gallaudet promoted Lynn Ray Boren to assistant athletics director. Boren is currently in his sixth season as head coach of the Bison volleyball program and serves as the athletics department's data reporting coordinator.

    Athletics administrators – Vaughn Calhoun, formerly an assistant commissioner at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, was named an athletics administrator at Emerson.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Illinois-Springfield selected Ben Wierzba as head coach after his three seasons as an assistant men's basketball coach at Evansville.

    Men's and women's cross country and track and field – Jan Spiro joined the Oglethorpe staff as head coach of the men's and women's track and field programs. Spiro was previously a middle and long distance coach with the Atlanta Track Club.

    Men's and women's lacrosse – Bridgeport hired Kate Backman as head coach of the women's lacrosse program. Backman previously served as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at Quinnipiac since 2008. The Purple Knights' program begins its inaugural season in the spring of 2011 … Nathanial Mayo was selected as head coach of the men's lacrosse program at Emerson. Mayo was most recently an assistant coach for the men's lacrosse program at Hartford … Sage selected current head women's basketball coach Jackie Luszczek to lead the women's lacrosse program. Luszczek replaces Andrea Hanley who resigned to pursue opportunities outside of coaching.

    Men's and women's volleyball – Wells named Betsy Hayden as head coach of the new men's and women's volleyball programs. Hayden, most recently head coach of the women's volleyball team at Millersville, will focus on recruiting and preparing for both programs to begin competition in the 2011-12 season.
