Earl M. Hilton III was elevated to interim athletics director at North Carolina A&T State, effective October 25. Hilton was most recently an assistant vice chancellor of student affairs and the associate athletics director. Hilton assumes the role vacated by Harold Martin, who was dismissed on October 15. Other transactions Presidents and chancellors – Penn State Harrisburg appointed Mukund Kulkarni chancellor, effective November 1. Kulkarni has served as interim chancellor since July 1 and was previously the senior associate dean for academic affairs. Coaches Baseball assistants – Keith Fritz joined the Shenandoah baseball program as an assistant coach. Fritz was returns to his alma mater following two years as an assistant baseball coach at the high school level. Men's and women's lacrosse – Florida Southern hired Kara Reber as head coach of the women's lacrosse program. Reber will lead the new program following two seasons as head coach of the women's lacrosse team at St. Mary's (Maryland). Deaths Former Chapman women's basketball and women's volleyball student-athlete Ofelia "Faye" Cruz died on October 15 at the age of 36 after a five-year battle with cancer … Bill Prew, a former Wayne State (Michigan) swimming student-athlete, died October 19. Prew was the 1941 NCAA Division I national champion in the 100-yard freestyle.
