    Dan Beebe, commissioner of the Big 12 Conference, signed a three-year contract extension. Beebe, who began his tenure in 2007, will remain under contract until June 30, 2015.

    Other transactions

    Coaches

    Men's and women's swimming and diving Macalester swimming and diving coach Bob Pearson announced his resignation, effective Nov. 28, citing personal reasons and other professional opportunities. Pearson was named head coach of the men's and women's programs in 1989 and is in his 22nd season at the helm of the program. Pearson also created and coached the Macalester club and varsity women's water polo teams.

    Deaths

    Nick Bell, a football student-athlete at Mississippi State, died November 2 at the age of 20. Bell, a redshirt sophomore who played in four games this season, was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the fall … John Greco, head coach of the Montclair State men's lacrosse program, died November 4 at the age of 33. Greco completed his eighth season as head coach in the spring, earning a school record-tying 15 wins. For his success, Greco was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year last season.

    Milestones

    St. Mary's (Maryland) men's and women's swim coach Andre Barbins earned his 100th career victory with a sweep in a double-dual meet with Gallaudet and Goucher on November 5. The 13-year head coach now has 103 career victories – 68 with the women's program.

    Committee vacancies (Division II)

    The NCAA is soliciting nominations for the following committee vacancies. The deadline for submitting nomination materials is December 3. Nominations must be submitted online (Division II access code: membership2; Division II password: service).

     

    Division II Committee on Infractions. Legislation was recently passed to increase the number of members on the Committee on Infractions from five to seven.  There are no restrictions on the two new appointments.

    Division II Nominating Committee. One January 2011 vacancy. Dan Kenney, University of North Carolina, Pembroke, has been appointed to the Management Council. Preference will be given to nominees from the Southeast region (Conference Carolinas, Peach Belt Conference, South Atlantic Conference). Preference will be given to individuals with previous committee experience.

    Committee vacancies (Division III)

    The NCAA is soliciting additional nominees for the following committee vacancies. The deadline for submitting nomination materials is December 3. Nominations must be submitted online (Division III access code: committee3; Division III password: 2006).

    Division III Financial Aid Committee. Two January 2011 vacancies. One appointee must be a financial aid administrator from a public institution; one appointee must be an ethnic minority.

    Division III Membership Committee. One January 2011 vacancy. Appointee must be from Region 1 (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont).
