    Dan Callahan, head coach of the baseball program at Southern Illinois, died November 16 at the age of 52. Callahan, who battled a rare form of skin cancer, guided the Salukis for the past 16 seasons and is the second-winningest coach in program history. Before his hiring at Southern Illinois, he served as head coach at Eastern Illinois for five seasons.

    Coaches

    Football – Joe White resigned as head coach at Rhodes after 14 seasons … Guilford head coach Kevin Kiesel will not return next season. Kiesel led the program for six seasons … Dave Walkovsky resigned as head coach at Tiffin. Walkovsky led the Dragons for three seasons.

    Men's and women's soccer – Northern Iowa extended the contract of head coach James Price through the 2015 season.  Price is in his second season with the program … Herb Gainey, head coach of men's soccer at St. Mary's (Maryland), announced his retirement after nine seasons with the program.

    Men's and women's swimming and diving – Macalester hired Beth Whittle as interim head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving programs. Whittle, previously an assistant coach at Washington U. in St. Louis, replaces Bob Pearson, who recently resigned.

    Men's and women's volleyball – Ashland announced Connie Surowicz will not return as head coach of the women's volleyball program next season.
