    WPI selected Steve Hall as its head wrestling coach. Hall replaces Lance Baden and Rob Polin, who served as co-head coaches this past season. Hall was standout heavyweight wrestler in the mid-1980s for Hall of Fame coach Phil Grebinar and was inducted into the WPI Athletics Hall of Fame in September 2008.

    Other transactions

    Presidents and chancellorsJohn C. Bravman, vice provost at Stanford, has been named president of Bucknell … Evansville selected Thomas A. Kazee as president. Kazee had been provost and executive vice president at Furman.

    Athletics directors – North Texas gave athletics director Rick Villarreal a contract extension through 2015.

    Coaches

    Baseball – UNLV will not renew the contract of head baseball coach Buddy Gouldsmith. Gouldsmith, who is finishing his seventh year leading the program, will coach the remainder of the season for the Rebels.

    Men's basketball – Metro State head coach Brannon Hays resigned after four seasons with the Roadrunners.

    Men's and women's soccer – Alabama-Huntsville hired Mike Mitchell as the new head coach of its men's and women's soccer teams. Mitchell coached previously at Clayton State, Auburn-Montgomery and Oglethorpe.

    Softball – MIT head coach Julie Fox will step down May 31 after four seasons with the Engineers.

    Men's and women's tennis – Middle Tennessee men's tennis coach David McNamara resigned. McNamara, who played at Middle Tennessee from 1995 to 1998, took over as head coach in 2007.

    Deaths

    Grinnell sophomore pole vaulter Robert Yin died May 18 from injuries suffered in a fall at the Midwest Conference championships meet May 14.
