    Robert Morris promoted associate coach Andrew Toole to head men's basketball coach. Toole takes over for Mike Rice, who accepted the same position at Rutgers. At 29, Toole is the youngest Division I men's basketball coach. He was a student-athlete at Elon and Penn and was an assistant at Lafayette before his three seasons as associate coach at Robert Morris.

    Other transactions

    Presidents and chancellors – Illinois selected Michael J. Hogan, current president of Connecticut, to serve as president beginning July 1.

    Athletics director – Cortland State named interim athletics director Mike Urtz as permanent AD. A 1994 Cortland State graduate, Urtz was associate athletics director from 2004-09.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Centenary (Louisiana) promoted assistant coach Adam Walsh. Walsh will also serve as assistant athletics director overseeing compliance, game-day management and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

    Men's basketball assistants – Rutgers selected Jimmy Martelli, who was new Rutgers head coach Mike Rice's assistant at Robert Morris for the past three seasons.

    Women's basketball – New Hampshire hired Maureen Magarity, former associate coach at Army. Magarity was also an assistant at Fairfield and Marist, her alma mater.

    Softball – Trinity (Texas) head coach Nicole Smith resigned after four years and a 70-70 record … Dana Lillard resigned from Regis (Colorado), effective May 28. Her career record is 306-209.
