    North Carolina-Wilmington named Cynthia Cooper-Dyke women's basketball coach. Cooper-Dyke spent the past five years at Prairie View A&M. She will be enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame later this year for her achievements as a student-athlete at Southern California (two NCAA championships), an Olympian (two gold medals) and a professional (10 seasons overseas and four championships with the WNBA Houston Comets).

    Other transactions

    Associate athletics director – Indiana named Julie Cromer senior associate athletics director for compliance and administration. Cromer spent the last 10 years at the NCAA national office and also has experience at Wright State and the Horizon League. Cromer also will be designated as the athletics department's senior woman administrator.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Mount St. Mary's tabbed Robert Burke, who was an assistant at American last season. Burke was an assistant at Georgetown for eight seasons and also has experience at Siena, Loyola Marymount and UMBC.

    Men's basketball assistants – Wichita State hired Chad Dollar, who spent the last two years as associate head coach at Arkansas State.

    Women's basketball assistants – Stephen F. Austin selected Jodi Greve and A'Quonesia Franklin.

    Men's and women's lacrosse – Glenn Thiel will retire from Penn State's men's program June 30. Thiel coached the Nittany Lions for 33 years. In his 43-year career as a head coach, he compiled a 313-222 record, including a 236-186 mark at Penn State.

    Softball – Samford selected Stephanie Van Brakle, who spent the past two seasons as head coach at Birmingham-Southern, compiling a 57-14 record.
