    The Pacific-10 Conference hired Danette Leighton to be the league's chief marketing officer, a new position that will oversee marketing and public relations. Leighton comes from Maloof Sports and Entertainment, where she was vice president of marketing and brand development for the company that owns the Sacramento Kings and the Sacramento Monarchs. She has previous experience at Sony and the Fiesta Bowl and was previously in public relations for the Pac-10.

    Other transactions

    Presidents and chancellors – Youngstown State promoted Cynthia Anderson to president. She had been vice president for student affairs for the past 15 years and worked in various positions with the school for 31 years. She will be the first woman and first Youngstown State graduate in the institution's history to serve as president.

    Athletics director – James Vilade will resign from Texas-Tyler in early June. He will also step down as baseball coach. Vilade accepted a job as vice president with the Premier Baseball Academy and associate scout with the Florida Marlins.

    Coaches

    Women's basketball – Missouri's Cynthia Stein will step down at the end of the 2009-10 season. In 12 years with the Tigers, Stein compiled a 184-175 record and three NCAA tournament appearances.
