    Clemson named Itoro Umoh Coleman head women's basketball coach. Coleman graduated from Clemson in 2000 and spent the last three years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Penn State. She also has coaching experience at Liberty and Butler and spent five seasons as an assistant at her alma mater.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Fordham hired former Hofstra coach Tom Pecora … Seton Hall tabbed Iona head coach Kevin Willard. Willard had a 45-48 record in three seasons with the Gaels … Louisiana-Lafayette selected Bob Marlin. Marlin has been head coach at Sam Houston State since 1998.

    Women's basketball – Seton Hall selected Anne Donovan, current head coach of the New York Liberty. Donovan won Olympic gold medals as a player and a coach.

    Field hockey – Beth Maddox accepted the position at Ball State after three years as an assistant at Colgate.

    Men's and women's soccer – Radford hired Marc Reeves for its men's program … New Haven selected Laura Duncan for its women's program.

    Men's and women's soccer assistants – Centenary (New Jersey) added Craig Wilkinson to its men's program. He had been with Dominican (New York).

    Softball – Oakland's Glenn MacDonald retired March 29. Assistant coach Jane Zimmerman will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season.

    Deaths

    Tarleton State football student-athlete Zach Shaver died March 29, two days after sustaining a head injury during spring practice. He was 18 … Former Gonzaga basketball student-athlete Franklin Burgess died March 26. Burgess was a U.S. district judge in Washington state and holds the school record for career points. He was 75.
