    San Jose State named Marie Tuite senior associate athletics director and chief operating officer. The appointment is effective June 1. Tuite has experience at the NCAA national office, the Pacific-10 Conference, Washington and most recently Seattle, where she assisted with the school's transition to Division I.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Iowa hired Fran McCaffery, who spent the last five seasons at Siena and also coached at Lehigh and North Carolina-Greensboro … Boise State selected Gonzaga associate head coach Leon Rice. Rice has been with the Bulldogs for 11 years … Virginia Tech extended Seth Greenberg's contract for two years. Greenberg just completed his seventh season with the Hokies and has a 132-94 record in that time.

    Men's basketball assistants – Southern California promoted Tony Miller, who had served as the team's strength and conditioning manager. Miller was a student-athlete at Marquette and played professionally in Europe for 12 years.

    Football assistants – Fresno State hired Pete Alamar to coach special teams and tight ends. Alamar spent the last seven years in a similar position at California … Gardner-Webb added Shawn Howe to coach the defensive line. He spent the past three seasons at Memphis, working with tight ends and the defense.

    Women's golf – Mississippi State tabbed Ginger Brown-Lemm. She comes to the Bulldogs from Arkansas State and was a former student-athlete at Texas … Niagara hired Steve Latimer, the director of instruction at Niagara Falls Country Club, the home course for the Purple Eagles.

    Men's and women's volleyball – Jon Stenman resigned from Coker to take the head women's volleyball coach position at Centenary (Louisiana).
