Towson named Bruce Atkinson its women's volleyball coach. Atkinson joins the Tigers from Hawaii Hilo, where his 2009 squad posted a 21-7 record. He also has coaching experience from Texas Brownsville and Dana College, where he was also a professor of physical education. He holds degrees from BYU-Hawaii and Southern California University of Health Sciences.

Football assistants – Liberty selected H.T. Kinney to coach tight ends and serve as running game coordinator. He spent the past eight years at Nicholls State, serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since 2004.

Academic services – Delaware hired Jessica B. Myers to be the school's academic coordinator. A former soccer student-athlete at Virginia Tech, Myers worked previously at Richmond, VCU and Maryland.

Former Norfolk State and Kentucky State men's basketball coach Lucias T. Mitchell died February 23 after a long illness. He was 74.
