Longwood selected Brig. Gen. Patrick Finnegan as president. Finnegan was most recently dean of the academic board at Army. He has a legal background and taught in Army's law department for six years.

Presidents and chancellors – Florida Atlantic appointed Mary Jane Saunders president. Saunders was most recently provost and vice president for academic affairs at Cleveland State. She was founding dean of the College of Science at Cleveland State and also worked at South Florida, LSU and the National Science Foundation … Baruch selected Mitchel B. Wallerstein, Syracuse's dean of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Wallerstein served as vice president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for counter-proliferation policy and senior defense representative for trade security policy in the Clinton administration.

Athletics directors – Greg Byrne, athletics director at Mississippi State, accepted the same position at Arizona, effective May 1. Byrne began his career with the Fiesta Bowl, then moved to Oregon, Oregon State and Kentucky before becoming an associate athletics director (and subsequently AD) at Mississippi State. He replaces Jim Livengood, who became athletics director at UNLV in December.

Associate athletics director – Chaminade named Jill Ward associate athletics director for compliance and senior woman administrator. Ward has experience at the NCAA national office, Loyola (Illinois), Northwestern and Hawaii Pacific.

Coaches

Men's basketball – Adams State hired Louis Wilson, most recently the associate head coach at Cal State Northridge. Wilson also coached at Idaho State and Southern Utah … Auburn tabbed Tony Barbee, UTEP head coach for the past four seasons. Barbee was also an assistant at Memphis for six seasons … Northern Iowa extended the contract of Ben Jacobson through 2020 … Weber State extended Randy Rahe's contract through 2017.

Women's basketball – Joe Curl resigned at Houston after 12 seasons.

Football assistants – Ferris State added Chris Boden as offensive coordinator and Gary McGraw to coach defensive backs … Samford hired James Joseph to coach running backs. He spent the last three seasons at Memphis.
