    Toby Bares retired from coaching after leading the Wisconsin-Oshkosh men's soccer team to a 344-99-39 record through 26 seasons. Bares has been asked to assume a greater administrative role in the university's Student Recreation and Wellness Center.  The program has posted winning records in each of the past 25 season, and his .754 winning percentage ranks among collegiate coaching leaders in the sport. The Titans made 11 appearances in the Division III Men's Soccer Championship under his tutelage, advancing to the semifinals three times.

    Other transactions

    Athletics directorMike Bellotti will leave his post next month as AD at Oregon to become a college football analyst for ESPN television broadcasts. Bellotti coached the Oregon football squad for 14 seasons before becoming director last summer.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball Norm Roberts dismissed as head coach at St. John's (New York). He departs with an 81-101 record through six seasons, including the best season mark of his tenure (17-16) and a National Invitation Tournament berth this year … Paul Sather hired as head coach at Northern State, where he played and also was an assistant under recently retired head coach Don Meyer before becoming head coach at Black Hills State in 2005.

    Men's basketball assistantTom Abatemarco returned to the staff at Colorado, where he served during the early 1990s before serving as a head coach at Lamar, Drake and Sacramento State. He most recently has worked with the NBA's Sacramento Kings and also coached the Sacramento Monarchs in the WNBA.

    Football assistants  – Nick Monroe hired as safeties coach at Bowling Green State after six years on the staff at Colgate. He also has coached at Allegheny … Mark Rhea named defensive line coach at Western Carolina after serving last season as defensive coordinator at Tiffin. He also has been on staffs at Coast Guard, Austin Peay State, Idaho State and Toledo.

    SoccerMike Lagow hired as head women's coach at Fontbonne. He is a former Florida prep coach, where he led Gulf Breeze High School to two state titles, and most recently has been an assistant at Ursuline Academy in St. Louis.
