    Jill Pohtilla resigned as women's ice hockey coach at Augsburg, where she has headed the team since the Auggies became the first collegiate varsity women's ice hockey program in the Midwest in 1995. Her teams compiled a 171-177-30 record through 15 seasons and won two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season titles and one MIAA postseason tournament crown. Pohtilla served from 2000 to 2004 on the Division III Women's Ice Hockey Committee and also served as secretary/treasurer of the American Women's Hockey Coaches Association.

    Other transactions

    Athletics directorTerri Deike named at LeTourneau. The former Texas-Tyler women's basketball  coach recently had been named senior woman administrator at LeTourneau, and the school announced she will continue to be listed as SWA.

    Coaches

    Women's basketballPhyllis Mangina stepped down as head coach at Seton Hall, where her teams were 356-368 during 25 seasons. She led teams to Division I Women's Basketball Championship appearances in 1994 and 1995 … Bridgett Williams dismissed after nine seasons as head coach at Wright State, where her teams compiled a 109-155 mark … Linda Schuck stepped down as head coach at Northwestern (Minnesota), where she played and then served six years as an assistant before leading teams to a 216-165 record through 13 seasons.

    Men's basketball assistantIsaac Brown reassigned to administrative duties at Arkansas, where he has been an assistant coach since 2007.

    Cross countryChris England named head men's and women's coach at Georgia State, where he also will coach distance runners in the track and field program. He has been cross country coach at Murray State and is a former assistant at Wyoming, Boise State and Ohio State, where he was all-American distance runner.

    Football – Ohio State's Jim Tressel received a two-year contract extension through the end of the 2014 football season.

    Football assistant – UTSA hired Neal Neathery as defensive coordinator. He previously was assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Drake and was the American Football Coaches Association's Division III assistant coach of the year in 2007 at Wabash.

    Ice hockeyJohn Markell dismissed as head men's coach at Ohio State. He has been in the post since 1995, including a season as interim head coach, and compiled a 280-267-56 record in leading the Buckeyes to six Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship appearances.

     VolleyballJohn Rodgers hired as head women's coach at Fontbonne.  He is a former head coach at UNC Wilmington and assistant at Alabama and Missouri State.

    WrestlingKevin Ward named head coach for Ouachita's new program. A Big 12 champion individually at Oklahoma State in 2005, Ward has been a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater.

    Deaths

    Freeda McMillan, a track student-athlete at Murray State during the early 1980s and mother of current Racers basketball student-athlete Picasso Simmons, died March 15 in an auto accident in Nashville, Tennessee.
