    John Fry, president at Franklin & Marshall and former chair of the Division III Presidents Council, will become Drexel's 14th president August 1. Fry, Franklin & Marshall's leader since 2002, served on the Presidents Council from 2004 to 2009, including two years as chair. He also served for three years on the NCAA Executive Committee. He succeeds Constantine N. Papadakis, who died last year.

    Other transactions

    Men's basketballGreg Vetrone named head coach at Fairleigh Dickinson after serving on an interim basis during the past season. He has been on the Knights' staff since 2008 and also has been on staffs at C.W. Post, UC Irvine and UNLV.

    Field hockeyTiffany Underhill selected as head coach at Transylvania. The former Keene State player has been an assistant at Washington and Lee and also served on the staff at her alma mater … Jane Hurt hired as head coach at New England. The native of England has been head coach of West Herts Hockey Club since 2003.

    Football Jack Hatem appointed head coach at Denison after five years there as an assistant, including three years as defensive coordinator … Mike Whalen named head coach at Wesleyan (Connecticut) after coaching since 2004 as New England Small College Athletic Conference rival Williams. Whalen was captain of the Wesleyan football team as a student-athlete during the early 1980s.

    Golf Melissa Martin named head women's coach at Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She played golf at Wisconsin.

    Conferences

    Woodie H. Dixon Jr. appointed general counsel and vice president of business affairs at the Pacific-10 Conference. He has been general counsel for the Kansas City Chiefs for the past six years … Diane Dietz hired as chief communications officer at the Big Ten Conference, effective May 3. The recent corporate executive set the career scoring record in women's basketball at Michigan before graduating in 1982 and is a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America Hall of Fame.
