Debbie Warren is the new Marymount (Virginia) director of athletics. She will begin at Marymount on June 21, replacing long-time athletics director and women's basketball coach Bill Finney, who retires at the end of the month. Men's basketball – La Salle and John Giannini have reached a multi-year contract agreement Men's and women's cross country – Matt Wackerly has been promoted to coach of the men's and women's cross country programs at Ohio Wesleyan … St. Joseph's (Maine) announced that Tom Dann has stepped down from the position of leading the men's and women's cross country programs. Softball -- Rita Jordan resigned as softball coach at Hardin-Simmons … Hartford named Diana Consolmagno softball coach. Conferences The Southland Conference board of directors elected new officers, including chair James Spaniolo, president at Texas-Arlington. Stephen F. Austin President Baker Pattillo will serve as vice chair … The Horizon League hired Bill Benner as senior associate commissioner for external affairs. Benner had been with the Indiana Convention and Visitors Association. The league also promoted former NCAA national office championships director Wayne Burrow to assistant commissioner for championships/sports administration and Kristy Murphy to communication/office operations assistant. | |
