    Former Wisconsin-Eau Claire football coach and student-athlete Link Walker died May 28. Walker played football for the Blugolds in the 1940s, serving as quarterback on the team that won a conference title in 1948. After years as a high school coach, he returned to his alma mater in 1962 as an assistant coach and later head football coach, a position he held for 19 years.

    Coaches

     Men's basketball – Adelphi promoted Dominick Savino to replace James Cosgrove. Savino was an assistant with the Panthers for the past three seasons.

    Women's basketball – Tracey Hathaway resigned her position at Roger Williams after three years and a 28-49 record … Oregon State released LaVonda Wagner. Wagner had compiled a record of 68-85 in five seasons with the Beavers.

    Men's and women's swimming – Transylvania hired Kyle Dunaway, former assistant at DePauw and Wabash. He replaces George Villarreal.

    Men's and women's volleyball – Coker tabbed Todd Caughlin to replace Jon Stenman. Caughlin spent the past nine years at St. Mary's (Texas).

    Associations

    Coquese Washington of Penn State will serve as treasurer of the executive committee of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She takes over for Marquette's Terri Mitchell. Cleve Wright of Gannon joined the board, and Beth Burns of San Diego State and Sue Semrau of Florida State were re-elected to their positions.

    Deaths

    Guy Murray, former baseball coach at Nebraska-Kearney, died May 29. Murray coached the Lopers from 1972-2001. He also worked with the football team and was a teacher in the health and physical education department … Former Jacksonville athletics director Judson Harris died May 29. He led the Dolphins from 1967-81, overseeing a move from the NAIA to the NCAA. Harris was 79.
