    David Sayler was announced recently as South Dakota's  12th athletics director. Sayler joins the Coyotes after spending the last four years as senior executive athletics director at Rice. Sayler served as Rice's interim athletics director from October 2009 to March 2010. In his role as senior executive athletic director, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department, directly overseeing all internal operations and providing administrative oversight for all 16 of Rice's sports. He also worked on the development of strategic plan for Rice athletics and served as the administrator of that plan.

     

    Other transactions

    Coaches

    Baseball Jeff Gregory selected at Wingate. Gregory replaces Allen Osborne, who resigned. Gregory has spent nine seasons on the Bulldog baseball coaching staff.

    Basketball – Skidmore hired Navy assistant Joe Burke.

    Basketball assistant coachesCaleb Kimbrough hired at Guilford, replacing Matt Parke after Parke was named at Averett. Kimbrough returns to his alma mater after one season at  Washington and Lee.

    Football assistant coachesDan Baranik hired at Guilford as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He coached most recently at Army, where he directed the Black Knights' wide receivers and served as Army's recruiting coordinator for coaches Stan Brock and Bobby Ross.

    Men's golfBrian Watts, a former professional golfer who led Oregon State to five NCAA team appearances in his nine seasons as head coach of the Beavers, named at Army.

    He replaces Jimmy Ray Clevenger, who retired after 20 seasons.

    Men's lacrosseJ.B. Clarke selected at Limestone. Clarke becomes the fifth coach in the 21-year history of the program replacing Mike Cerino, who relinquished his coaching duties to focus his attention on administering an expanding athletics department. Clarke previously was head coach and assistant director of athletics at Washington College ... Washington College hired Jeff Shirk. Shirk has been head coach at Virginia Military for the past four years.

    Women's lacrosseLiz Longley named at Oberlin.  She served as an assistant coach at Lynchburg for the last three seasons. Longley takes over for Deb Ranieri and remains as Oberlin's field hockey coach.

     

    Conferences

    Advance media and communications assistant ­− Molly Gallagher named at the Atlantic 10 Conference. Gallagher joins the Atlantic 10 from the NCAA, where she was a new-media intern.
