    The American Football Coaches Association announced that Vince Thompson has been named director of media relations. Thompson had previously served as AFCA coordinator of publications. He takes over the position vacated by Todd Bell, who left to become director of college rugby for USA Rugby.

    Other transactions

    Directors of athletics − Roger Ternes named at Wisconsin-River Falls. Ternes comes from Dickinson State, where he has been athletics director since 1999.

    Associate director of athletics for business operationsTeri Kromrei selected at Detroit. Kromrei is in her second stint with the department, having returned in the summer of 2007 after holding positions at Kent State and Central Florida. She is also Detroit's senior woman administrator.

    Assistant director of athletics for strength and conditioningJoe Tofferi promoted at Detroit. Tofferi joined the Titan in 2006 from Western Michigan and has been head strength and conditioning coach since.

    Assistant director of athletics for sports medicineMike Miller promoted at Detroit. Miller joined the staff in August 2006 when he was named the director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer.

    Senior assistant sports information directorP.J. Gradowski promoted at Detroit. Bradowski has served as one of Detroit's assistant SIDs since October 2007. He previously worked on the sports information staffs at Indiana, Ohio and Quinnipiac, his alma mater.

    Baseball associatesBryan Peters selected at High Point.

    Men's basketball − Kevin Carrol named at Maryville (Missouri).

    Men's basketball assistantsLamar Barrett named men's assistant basketball coach at American, and Matt Wolff selected as director of basketball operations ... Ryan Hart selected at Maryville (Missouri).

    Cross countryAngelo Posillico chosen as men's and women's cross country coach at Oneonta State, beginning this fall. Posillico takes over the men's and women's program from Matt LoPiccolo, who will coach the track and field program. That position became vacant when Aimee Dawson left the college at the conclusion of the outdoor season.

    Women's golf Kim Hodge selected at Maryville (Missouri).

    Women's soccerDaniel Brizard, an assistant coach at LSU for the past five seasons, named at Tennessee Tech. Brizard begins his new position July 1. In addition to LSU, Brizard has coached at Florida International, South Alabama and Missouri-St. Louis.

    SoftballSelena Collins selected at Trinity (Texas). Collins has been an assistant coach at Sam Houston State since 2008.

    Men's tennisTim Plyler hired at Maryville (Missouri).

    Men's and women's track and field assistantsJohn Fortney and Maureen Conley hired at Maryville (Missouri).

    Women's volleyball − Jaime Terenzi selected at Shenandoah. She previously served as assistant athletics director and head men's and women's volleyball coach at Newbury (Massachusetts) ... Jamie Walters selected at Augustana (Illinois). Walters, who has served as the coach at Aurora for the last three seasons, replaces Janelle Hester, who resigned in May.

    Conferences

    Coe President James Phifer has been elected to a one-year term as chair of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Phifer succeeds John Byrd of Simpson. The Executive Committee of the IIAC for 2010-11 consists of Phifer, Wartburg president Darrel Colson and Central president Mark Putnam.

    Associations

    McCall Parrish joined the American Football Coaches Association staff as media relations assistant. She was the AFCA media relations intern from August 2009 to May 2010.
