    Deborah A. Yow has been named director of athletics at North Carolina State. Yow, younger sister of the late Kay Yow, who coached North Carolina State women's basketball for 34 years, comes to the Wolfpack after 16 years as director of athletics at Maryland. 

    Other transactions

    Associate directors of athletics – Shenandoah promoted Sarah Pelster to associate athletics director for administrative services. Pelster came to Shenandoah in August 2003 as the head women's volleyball coach and was promoted to assistant AD in August 2006. From May through December 2009, Pelster was the interim associate AD after previous Athletics Director John Hill resigned.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball assistants – Loyola (Illinois) named Pat Monaghan coordinator of men's basketball operations. He spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College.

    Women's basketball – Bryn Mawr named Deb Charamella head women's basketball coach. Charamella was an assistant with the Owls from the time of her graduation in 2005 through 2008-09. She served as interim head coach during 2009-10 … Mercer hired Susie Gardner as the school's new head women's basketball coach. Gardner spent the past three campaigns as an assistant women's basketball coach at Florida. She joined the Gators after four seasons as the head coach at Arkansas.

    Women's basketball assistants – Albany hired Mary Grimes, Fred Castro and Amber Metoyer. Grimes will also serve as recruiting coordinator.

    Men's and women's cross country and track and field – Oneonta State selected Angelo Posillico as men's and women's cross country coach. Posillico takes over from Matt LoPiccolo, who will be the head coach for the school's track and field program. Posillico ran cross country and track at Oneonta State before graduating in 2008.

    Softball – Trinity (Texas) appointed Selena Collins as head softball coach. Collins has been an assistant at Sam Houston State since 2008 … Nicole Pauly, a former player at Northwestern and member of the Chicago Bandits of National Professional Fastpitch, has been named graduate assistant softball coach at Loyola (Illinois).

    Men's and women's swimming and diving – Mohamed Abdelaal is the new head men's and women's swimming and diving coach and Aquatics Director at St. Peter's. Abdelaal spent last season as an assistant coach.

    Men's and women's tennisLarry Hubbard, former head men's and women's tennis coach at Liberty, has been appointed to the same position at Shenandoah. He takes over from Kimberly Scruton, who resigned in April to take a faculty position at Methodist. Hubbard will also serve the department as the director of athletics advancement … Thomas More hired former Cincinnati and Franklin assistant Ryan Meyer as head women's tennis coach.

    Conferences

    Thomas Chema, president at Hiram, has been elected to a two-year term as president of the North Coast Athletic Conference. Chema, who had served as the NCAC's vice president the past two years, was chosen to succeed Denison President Dale Knobel. Wittenberg President Mark Erickson was elected vice president.
