    Saint Leo named John Semeraro associate athletics director. The former Lions student-athlete had been assistant commissioner of external operations at the Peach Belt Conference. He returns to his alma mater, where he was a golf and soccer student-athlete and served as chair of the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He begins his new position July 12.

    Other transactions

    Associate athletics director – Evansville promoted Sarah Solinsky and Dwight Merilatt to senior associate athletics director. Solinsky oversees compliance and student services. Merilatt manages external affairs.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball – Missouri State extended Cuonzo Martin's contract by five years. The extension keeps Martin with the Bears through the 2014-15 season.

    Men's basketball assistants – Georgetown hired Robert Kirby, who spent the past 12 seasons as an assistant with Mississippi State … Rutgers selected Eric Murdock to serve as director of player development. Murdock played professionally for 11 seasons and was an AAU coach.

    Women's basketball assistants – South Carolina picked Darius Taylor, who spent the last two years working in the NBA Development League. Taylor was on head coach Dawn Staley's staff at Temple for four years.

    Men's and women's cross country assistant – Dartmouth tabbed Mark Coogan for its track and cross country programs. Coogan was an Olympic marathon runner and ran professionally from 1988 until he retired in 2002.

    Men's and women's tennis - Dartmouth named Chris Drake head men's tennis coach. Drake was an assistant at Northwestern for the past three years. He replaces Chuck Kinyon, who retired after 30 years with the Big Green.

    Deaths

    Former Atlantic Coast Conference associate commissioner Fred Barakat died June 21. Barakat joined the ACC in 1981 as coordinator of basketball officials, finally retiring in 2007 as associate commissioner of men's basketball operations. He was 71.
