    Drake promoted Leanne Smith to head the women's golf program. Smith had been an assistant for both the men's and women's programs since 2006. She was a student-athlete at Iowa State and played professionally for two years.

    Other transactions

    Athletics directors – Wisconsin-Stout promoted football coach Duey Naatz to replace Joe Harlan, who resigned earlier this year. Naatz has been with the school since 1990.

    Associate athletics directors – UNC Greensboro selected Tim George as associate director of athletics for external operations. George comes to the school after a six-year stint at Oklahoma, where he served as, among other roles, the director of promotions.

    Coaches

    Men's basketball assistants – Georgia Tech hired Robert McCullum. McCullum was a head coach at Western Michigan and South Florida… Eastern Kentucky promoted Everick Sullivan to associate head coach. Sullivan was a student-athlete at Louisville … Northern Colorado picked Chris Craig, a former junior college head coach. Craig was a student-athlete at UTEP … Iowa State hired Bobby Lutz, former Charlotte head coach.

    Men's and women's cross country and track and field – Xavier selected former high school coach Dan Flaute to lead both the men's and women's teams …Betsy Emerson has been named head coach of women's cross country and distance track and field at Macalester. Emerson, a former head coach at Luther, replaces Jordan Cushing, who resigned this spring

    Softball – Iowa's Gayle Blevins announced her retirement after 31 seasons, the last 23 with the Hawkeyes. Her career record is 1,245-588-5, and she never had a losing season as a head coach … Mary Hardin-Baylor head softball coach Kasey Blomquist resigned to accept a teaching position … Saint Rose chose Ali Meacham as head softball coach.

    Men's and women's swimming and diving – San Jose State named Mark Butcher as its new diving coach.

    Men's and women's volleyball assistants – Georgia State tabbed former high school coach Kelly Audia for its women's program.

    Conferences

    The Mid-American Conference named Ricky Stokes associate commissioner for men's basketball. Stokes was a basketball coach for nearly 20 years before moving to administration at Pennsylvania in 2007.
