    Coker hired Tim Pleasant as the Cobras' new head men's and women's tennis coach. Pleasant replaces Alvin Cheng, who left in May to become a club pro in Ohio. A former Division I men's and women's coach at Austin Peay, Pleasant joins the Coker staff after serving the past six years as the director of tennis at the Rock Tennis Academy in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

    Other transactions

    Directors of athletics – Lamar Athletics Director Billy Tubbs is stepping down to become a special assistant/consultant to the president for athletics, providing assistance in fundraising and other areas. Larry Tidwell, head coach of the women's basketball team, will serve as interim AD.

    Associate directors of athletics – As part of a department-wide restructuring that divides athletics into academic, external operations and internal operations units, Western Carolina promoted Assistant Athletics Directors Jennifer Brown and Brian Frerking to the associate level.

    Coaches

    Baseball Baldwin-Wallace selected Brian Harrison, most recently an assistant coach at the Dayton. Harrison succeeds Bob Fisher, who retired after 42 seasons as head coach and 51 years at his alma mater.

    Men's basketballJohn Krikorian, head coach at Merchant Marine the last four seasons, has been named head men's basketball coach at Christopher Newport … Indiana State head coach Kevin McKenna resigned to become an assistant at Oregon.

    Men's basketball assistants St. John's (New York) added Mike Dunlap as an assistant coach.  Dunlap had been with Arizona and Oregon previously.

    Men's and women's gymnasticsVicki Chliszczyk, an assistant women's gymnastics coach at Maryland for the past five years, has been named head women's coach at Towson. She succeeds Dick Filbert as the Tigers' head coach. Filbert, who retired after the 2010 season, coached the Tiger gymnasts for 28 years. He led the Tigers to 491 victories and 14 conference titles.

    Men's and women's lacrosse – Oswego State men's lacrosse head coach Dan Witmer will step aside as head coach after 28 seasons following the decision by the college to elevate the position from part-time to full-time status. Oswego State has started a search to fill the men's lacrosse head coaching position immediately.

    Men's and women's soccer – Creighton selected Harvard head men's coach Jamie Clark as head coach of the Bluejay men's soccer program. Clark replaces Bob Warming, who was hired at Penn State last month.

    Conferences

    The Western Athletic Conference hired NCAA national office staff member Matt Burgemeister as assistant commissioner for compliance and governance. Burgemeister replaces Anthony Archbald, who accepted a senior associate AD position at Princeton earlier this year. Burgemeister spent the last four years at the NCAA working in academic and membership affairs … The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference picked Hamilton Cook as assistant director of marketing and ticket sales.

    Deaths

    Reid Watson, a veteran of 43 years in the coaching ranks and a part-time assistant with the Delaware women's lacrosse program for the last six seasons, died June 13 at the age of 82.
