    Quinnipiac extended head women's basketball coach Tricia Fabbri's contract through the 2014-15 season. Fabbri was the program's first full-time coach and the first female head coach at Quinnipiac when she arrived in 1995. She earned her 200th career win this past season and is the all-time winningest coach in program history.

    Other transactions

    Associate directors of athletics – San Jose State promoted Matt Witty and Jody Smith to associate athletics directors. Witty will oversee business operations and Smith will be responsible for events and facilities.

    Assistant director of athletics – Arkansas Tech promoted women's volleyball coach Kristy Bayer to assistant athletics director. Bayer is entering her seventh season as head coach of the Golden Suns … Sean McDonough was named assistant athletics director at Western Illinois.  McDonough will be responsible for external relations and fundraising … Michael Beabuien was promoted from director of marketing and tick sales to assistant athletics director for marketing and promotions at San Jose State.

    Coaches

    Softball – Tennessee State named Jeff Dabney head coach after two seasons as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State … Meaghan Asselta was hired as head coach at Lafayette after serving as head coach at Manhattan from 2006 to 2009 … East Tennessee State appointed Brad Irwin as head coach. Irwin was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Chattanooga for the past four seasons.

    Men's and women's tennis – Ben Johnson was named head coach of the men's tennis program at Richmond after four years as an assistant coach with the men's tennis team at Davidson.

    Men's and women's volleyball assistants – Adams State hired former high school coach Andy Rice as assistant coach of the women's volleyball program.

    Staff

    Equipment – Eric Howitt, director of equipment services at San Jose State, was elevated to director of equipment services, branding and licensing.

    Sports information – Limestone appointed Joshua J. Darling, former assistant director of media relations at College of Charleston, as its sports information director.  

    Deaths

    Trevor Gaines, a former basketball student-athlete at Vermont, died July 21 at the age of 29. Gaines collapsed while playing basketball and never regained consciousness. During his time at Vermont, from 1998 to 2002, Gaines helped guide the program to its first America East Conference regular-season title his senior year. He went on to play basketball professionally overseas for seven seasons.
