Former Tampa women's soccer student-athlete Nicole Murphy died June 15 when she was hit by a car in South Africa. Murphy, a member of the 2007 Division II national championship team, was attending the World Cup with her family. The 24-year-old was in her third year of medical school at LSU. Other transactions Coaches Men's basketball assistants – Louisville selected Tim Fuller. The Cardinals also named Mark Lieberman director of basketball operations … Penn State selected Ernie Nestor to be director of basketball operations. Nestor has 41 years of coaching experience … Providence named Kevin Gamble coordinator of player development and video operations. Gamble was head coach at Illinois-Springfield. Women's basketball – Oregon State hired Scott Rueck, former head coach at George Fox. Rueck led the Bruins to a 288-88 record in 14 seasons at the helm of George Fox. Strength and conditioning – Louisville tabbed David Padget to be assistant strength coach for men's basketball. | |
