Kenyon announced that Jessen Book, a 2001 graduate of the school and former assistant coach under Jim Steen, will succeed Steen as head coach of the women's swimming and diving program. Steen, the only coach since the women's program's inception in 1975-76, will continue to coach Kenyon's men's team. Book, who spent four seasons as an assistant men's coach at Ohio State, takes over a Kenyon program that has captured a record 23 NCAA Division III titles, including an unsurpassed streak of 17 consecutive from 1984 through 2000. Other transactions Coaches Baseball assistants – Lance Niekro returned to his alma mater Florida Southern to serve as an assistant coach. Niekro was a Moccasin student-athlete from 1998 to 2000. Football – Bobby Johnson, head coach at Vanderbilt, announced his retirement following eight seasons with the Commodores. Robbie Caldwell was named interim head coach. Caldwell has more than 30 years of experience, including the last eight at Vanderbilt as an assistant head coach and offensive line coach. Football assistants – Illinois named Chip Long an assistant coach. Long was a graduate assistant at Arkansas for the past two seasons. Men's and women's golf – Keith Tyburski was appointed head coach of the men's golf program at Colgate following his role as interim head coach last fall. Men's and women's soccer – Montevallo hired Ken Hassler as head coach of the men's soccer program. Hassler was the head coach of the Pfeiffer men's soccer program for the past six seasons. Staff Athletic training -- Washington U. in St. Louis named Kellie Black and Kelly Mitchell assistant athletic trainers. Facility management – John Bugner was named assistant facility manager at Washington U. in St. Louis. Conferences The Big Ten promoted seven staff members and hired one new staff member.
