    Michigan announced the resignation of Lloyd Carr, associate athletics director and former head football coach. Carr served in the Wolverines' athletics department for 30 years, first as a defensive backs coach in 1980 and rising to defensive coordinator in 1987 and head coach in 1995. As head coach, Carr earned a 122-40 career record, five Big Ten Conference titles and a national championship. Carr retired as the Wolverines' head coach after the 2007 football season and became an associate athletics director. 

    Other transactions

    Director of athletics – Lindsay Reeves was promoted to director of athletics at North Georgia. Reeves was an associate athletics director for the last three years and has been a professor at North Georgia since 2000.

    Coaches

    Baseball – Washington U. in St. Louis named Steve Duncan head coach. Duncan was an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins the past three seasons … Scott Stricklin, head coach at Kent State since 2004, signed a contract extension through 2014.

    Men's basketball assistants – Chris Lowery returned to UALR as the director of basketball operations, a position he held with the Trojans from 2005 to 2008. Lowery most recently served as an assistant coach at the junior college level … Florida Southern added Kenyan Weaks as a part-time assistant coach. Weaks was a member of the men's basketball staff last season at Marshall and was a student-athlete at Florida from 1997 to 2000.

    Men's and women's cross country and track and field – Caldwell hired Patrick Sullivan as head coach of the women's cross country program. Sullivan just completed his career as a track student-athlete at Ramapo in May.

    Men's and women's golf – Tiffin hired Scott Hall as the head women's golf coach. Hall was previously a coach at the high school level.

    Men's and women's hockey assistants – Gustavus Adolphus hired Ruthann Kragh as the assistant coach of the women's hockey program. Kragh previously worked for women's hockey programs at Bemidji State and Minnesota State.

    Men's and women's lacrosse – Ashley Hughes was named head coach of the women's lacrosse program at St. Michael's. Hughes was an assistant coach for the men's and women's lacrosse programs at Norwich last season … Topher Grossman was named head coach of the men's lacrosse program after three years as an assistant coach at Connecticut College.

    Men's and women's soccer – Montclair State named former coach and student-athlete Patrick Naughter head coach of the women's soccer program. Naughter, who spent the past 12 years coaching at the girls' soccer club level, was a student-athlete on the soccer team from 1996 to 1999 and was an assistant coach with the program for three years.

    Softball – Saint Rose hired Ali Meacham as head coach. Meachem was an assistant coach at New Haven the past two seasons … Trena Peel was named the fourth head coach in program history at Hampton. Peel, a former student-athlete at LSU from 1999 to 2002, has served as assistant coach at Mississippi Valley State, Maryland and George Washington … Delaware hired Jaime Wohlbach as head coach. Wohlbach was the head coach at Iona for the past three seasons.  

    Men's and women's swimming and diving – Jamie Holder accepted the head coach position of the men's and women's swimming and diving programs at Georgetown. Holder was an assistant coach with the men's swimming and diving team at Princeton for the last five years and was also a swimming student-athlete for the Tigers.

    Men's and women's tennis assistants – Thomas Hipp was hired as an assistant men's tennis coach at Barry. Hipp most recently served as a graduate assistant with the program and was previously a student-athlete with the Buccaneers.

    Men's and women's water polo – Harvard named Ted Minnis head coach of the men's and women's water polo programs. Minnis previously coached at the youth, club and high school levels.

    Men's and women's volleyball – Jenn Kelemen was hired by her alma mater Wentworth as head coach of the women's volleyball program. Kelemen was a student-athlete on the Leopards' women's volleyball team from 2005 to 2008 and served as a volunteer coach last season.

    Staff

    Concessions – Detroit hired Anna Britnell to fill the new position of director of concessions and merchandising. Britnell previously worked for a school district near the university.

    Marketing – Sachi Ena joined the Rensselaer staff as the director of marketing and promotions. Ena was gymnastics student-athlete from 1996 to 2000 at Denver and has worked for various professional sports teams as an account executive.

    Sports information – Wilkes hired Ryan Rebholoz as the sports information director and primary media contact for the athletics department. Rebholz was previously an assistant sports information director at Bloomsburg.

    Conferences

    The Pacific-10 Conference announced the appointment of Allison Yee as the communications intern for 2010-11. Yee previously was an intern in the California media relations department.

    NCAA committee vacancies

    The NCAA is soliciting nominations for an immediate Division III vacancy on the Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports. The appointee will replace Susan Davis of Swarthmore College. The appointee must be a head coach.  The deadline for submitting nomination materials is August 13. Nominations must be submitted online (Division III access code: committee3; Division III password: 2006).
